Investment: Investments have been made in restoring the Carasuhat Wetland in Romania. The economic and environmental impact of this investment has not yet been evaluated, and there are concerns that the increased boat tourism brought to the area may be damaging the environment and ecology through impacts on water quality, noise and light pollution. Opportunities for zoning of tourist activities in the wetlands to achieve a triple win will be investigated. Evidence on how this previous/current investment has impacted the economy, jobs and the environment is required to help steer zoning and future investment towards sustainability .

Scientific/Technical Project Contribution: To better understand the trade-off between tourism and environment, water, light and noise pollution monitoring with FreeStation will be coupled with sound-ecology to better understand impacts of boat traffic and the actions required to maintain environmental as well as economic and employment benefits.
